Subject and Purpose:

Co-operation is to take place in the following areas of common interest:

Participation in WW1 Commemorations:
New Zealand will participate at an appropriate level in the major commemorations to be organised by France and in particular those actions in which New Zealand was directly involved.
Organisation of Large Commemorative Events to Mark the Centenary of The Great War.
Commemorative ceremonies for the battle of the Somme (in 2016) will be highlights of the French and New Zealand programmes.
Enabling Remembrance:
France will take care in particular to facilitate the access of visitors to the various locations of remembrance and will support appropriate accessible historical information being made available for them.

Educational Co-Operation:
The Signatories undertake to encourage exchanges between schools, building on existing relationships and developing new ones through visits as well as internet and social media connections.

Cultural Co-Operation:
The centenary of the First World War will be a catalyst for initiatives in the historical and creative fields. Conferences, exhibitions, publications, institutional cooperation, and audio-visual productions are proposed in France and in New Zealand.
