Memorandum of Understanding between The Department of Conservation and the Ministry for Primary Industries of New Zealand and The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the Kingdom of Spain on cooperation on Seabird Conservation

Subject and Purpose:

Objectives are to
a) Establish a strong cooperative relationship between the Participants with the aim of furthering shared goals on the conservation of seabirds:
b) Support championing the use of ACAP best practice seabird bycatch mitigation, including in relevant regional and international forums;
c) Promote cooperation in relevant regional and international forums with the aim of strengthening seabird bycatch mitigation measures and ensuring effective compliance;
d) Promote collaboration on research projects and sharing of information between the Participants with regard to the conservation of seabirds; and
e) Promote cooperation to accelerate implementation of the Antipodean albatross Concerted Action adopted under the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals.
