Treaty Summary:

The Side Letters amend existing side letters to the Malaysia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement on alcoholic beverages to extend most favoured nation (MFN) treatment to New Zealand in respect of wine exports (HS Heading 2204) to Malaysia. MFN treatment on New Zealand wine exports will ensure that the competitive position of our wine exporters is not eroded if others secure tariff liberalisation on wine. This includes customs duties and charges of any kind imposed on or in connection with importation, the method of levying such duties and charges; and the application of import licensing and other non-tariff measures.

The customs duties and other charges applied to items covered by HS Headings 2203, 2205, 2206, 2207 and 2208 will be subject to review two years after the date of the initiating letter.
